The Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary Club hosted its 23rd annual Blood Screening at Essential Health-St. Mary's in September, generating $26,116 for various scholarship activities.

The net proceeds from the event help to support the club's donations to Detroit Lakes Dollars for Scholars, Frazee and Lake Park-Audubon College Scholarships, Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, Model United Nations Assembly, TeacHaiti, and the student foreign exchange program.

This past September, 2,144 people participated in the seven-day blood screening event. Essentia Health and their employees are major contributors to this event with the assistance of Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary and Sanford Health.

The blood screenings provide a great service at a great price. For $35, participants receive cholesterol, triglyceride, lipoproteins, glucose, potassium, creatinine, hemogram, white blood cell counts and lever tests.

Blood screenings help assess a person's current health status and may alert an individual to an unknown pre-existing condition as well as encourage lifestyle and diet changes due to analysis values.
