Nordic Skiing - Laker boys have strong meet in Little Falls
The Detroit Lakes boys' and girls' Nordic ski teams saw where they stacked up for the upcoming Section 8-1A meet last Friday, after competing in the Little Falls Invite.
The Laker boys had a good day after placing sixth out of 10 teams, as freshman Austin Askelson was DL's top finisher in 16th with a pursuit time of 34:08.
Pursuit is a combined time of the 5.4 km Classic and Skate races each skier takes part in.
"Our boys are making steady progress and should be in good shape for the section race," said DL head coach Dan Josephson.
Following Askelson were junior Zach Foltz in 24th at 34:59 and senior Ian Fritz in 27th at 35:17.
Other DL finishers were junior Anthony Meyer in 43rd and seniors Austin Clem (49) and Montana Johnson (50).
The two Laker girl finishers were senior Miranda Olson in 23rd at 40:17 and senior Jill Feuillerat in 46th at 45:22.
The section meet's location is currently up in the air, with the normal spot of Camp Ripley not yet suitable to ski on due to the meltdown and rain.
Other possibilities include Maplelag in the DL area and Mt. Itasca in Coleraine.
The Lakers will be in Bemidji Tuesday to compete in the Northstar Classic Conference event.
