Norman "Norm" O. Scobey, 87, of Moorhead, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in Golden Living Center, Moorhead.
Norman Oscar Scobey was born to Oscar and Alma (Helgeson) Scobey on May 17, 1925 in Minneapolis. He grew up in Deronda, Wis., where he graduated from high school. Norm was a World War II veteran, serving from 1943 to 1946. He returned to Brookings, S.D., attended college and earned his bachelor's degree.
Norm moved to Moorhead, where he sold real estate and worked in the insurance business. He owned and operated Holiday Insurance in Moorhead.
Norm had a love of being outdoors, including fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends at Golden Living Center.
Surviving Norm are his daughters, Karen (Doug) Scobey Blilie of Chandler, Ariz., and Sandy Scobey (Duane Halvorson) of Moorhead; son, Mark (Bonnie) Scobey of Glyndon; sister, Mary Ruth (Virgil) Steger of Bartlesville, Okla.; and grandson, Ben Turmo of Fargo.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Audrey Scobey.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Visitation took place from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, followed by the funeral service at 4 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.
