Nornes, in announcing his support of Westrom, highlighted Torrey’s character and leadership, that he’s witnessed first-hand as colleagues together in the state legislature since 1997.

In his endorsement statement, Nornes said, “I have worked with Torrey since our first term together in 1997. I wholeheartedly believe he is the right man to represent us in Washington and work to change the direction our country is headed on. Torrey has the work ethic with the will to make a difference.”

In response, Westrom stated, “It is an honor and very humbling to be endorsed by one of the most senior and well-respected members in our state legislature, Bud Nornes. It has been a privilege to serve with Bud in the Minnesota House of Representatives, and I look forward to campaigning with him in Otter Tail County.”

Bud Nornes represents district 08A in the Minnesota State Legislature, which includes most of Otter Tail County in the west central part of the state. Nornes is in his 9th term in the State House, and is the former assistant majority whip.

He is a graduate of the Brown Institute of Broadcasting and is the former owner of radio stations KJJK AM and KJJK FM based in Fergus Falls. He is also active in his local community as a member of the Fergus Falls Chamber of Commerce, Ducks Unlimited, the Elks, the Kiwanis, Pheasants Forever, and has served on the United Way Board.
