North Dakota governor declares snow emergency
BISMARCK - North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven has issued an emergency declaration aimed at helping communities with record snowfall.
Hoeven said the declaration makes $1.5 million available to cities and counties to offset the cost of snow removal and other snow-related emergencies.
Hoeven said the state Emergency Commission approved the funding Thursday.
"North Dakota has had more snowfall this season than we have had in a number of years and that is putting pressure on local communities and local budgets," Hoeven said in a written statement.
