North Dakota's portion of the money includes $25.2 million for the weatherized assistance program and $24.6 million for the state's energy program.

A news release claims the investment will put about 87,000 people to work across the country.

The funding will support weatherization of homes, including adding more insulation, sealing leaks and modernizing heating and air conditioning equipment, the release said.

Further, the release also said the Weatherization Assistance Program allows an average investment of up to $6,500 per home in energy efficiency upgrades for families making up to 200% of the federal poverty level - or about $44,000 a year for a family of four.
