Nov. 4 Frazee blood screening at new location in Care Center
Area residents monitoring their cholesterol and other health indicators are invited to register for the upcoming local blood screening Thursday, Nov. 4, from 7-8:30 a.m.
This time, the screening will be held at a new location, Frazee Care Center, to provide easier access for participants.
Cost is $35 per person. This battery of tests would normally cost hundreds of dollars if it were done in the normal clinic setting.
Essentia Health lab, Frazee-Vergas Schools Staff Wellness, and Frazee-Vergas Community Education are the sponsors of the event, which has been expanded to a twice-yearly offering, in November and May. Participants can come either once or twice per year.
This is a fasting lab, so participants should not eat during the eight hours prior to the screening. The process should take about 10-15 minutes, during which blood samples will be drawn by lab personnel.
Later, the samples will be analyzed for red blood cell count, white blood count, cholesterol, triglycerides, high- and low-density lipoproteins, glucose, potassium, and creatinine.
Results will be mailed within two to three days. (Participants should bring a self-addressed, legal-size stamped envelope with their birthday written on the inside flap.)
Frazee Lions will also be on hand to conduct free vision screenings for glaucoma and macular degeneration.
Call Frazee-Vergas Community Education at 334-2525 by Thursday, Oct. 28 to register.
