This summer is sure to be one filled with many beach days, but when the temperature is just a little too hot or the beach a little too busy, watching a movie might be the perfect solution.

With all the films premiering this summer, everyone must be interested in at least one.

Prometheus

Directed by Ridley Scott, sci-fi thriller Prometheus is expected to be one of this summer's big movies.

A group of explorers are seemingly unaware of their significant role in the future of the human race as they begin finding clues to the origins of mankind.

Their journey quickly leads them to the darkest areas of the universe. There, the team must wage a horrifying battle in order to preserve mankind.

Brave

Appealing to a more relaxed group, family-oriented Brave will appear on June 22.

Rated PG, this action-packed, adventure filled, hilarious film is sure to appease the interests of the entire family unit. Merida is a talented archer and rebellious daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor.

Set on creating a life by her standards, Merida defies a tradition held sacred by the uproarious lords of the land.

Merida's actions indirectly release total chaos throughout the kingdom, and when she asks the old Witch for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to achieve true bravery in order to alter a deadly curse before time runs out.

While Merida searches for a future, Peter Parker is busy trying to understand his past.

The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man, rated PG-13, will be appearing in theatres July 3.

Director Marc Webb has revamped the original story line of Spider-Man, directed by Sam Raimi. Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) and high school crush Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) struggle together through life with love, commitment and secrets. Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father and embarks on a journey to better understand his parents' disappearance and why they abandoned him as a child.

He is led directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), his father's former partner.

As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter ego, The Lizard, Peter will make difficult choices regarding his powers and mold his destiny to become a hero.

The Dark Knight Rises

Another action-packed drama following the premier of The Amazing Spider-Man will be a conclusion to the Batman trilogy. The Dark Knight Rises will appear in theatres July 20.

In this film Batman is subjected to harsh challenges from the beastly Bane and snide Catwoman.

Since this is the final movie director Christopher Nolan and actor Christian Bale will participate in, many have questioned whether or not Batman will die.

Unfortunately, producers and actors alike have been mum on the answer to that question. Looks like we'll all just have to watch and discover for ourselves...

The Bourne Legacy

A great way to move on from the sad fact that Christopher Nolan will not be directing any further Batman movies is The Bourne Legacy.

The PG-13 movie is set to premier Aug. 3. As the fourth sequence of the Bourne franchise, the plot line is based on an original story.

Director Tony Gilroy claims this film to be "a whole new chapter...this is a stand-alone project."

Another surprise is that Jason Bourne will not be featured in the film; rather, Jeremy Renner will play the role of another assassin trained in the same program as Bourne.

The Expendables 2

Finally, to jumpstart the final weeks of summer actors Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dolph Lundgren are back in The Expendables 2 on Aug. 17.

Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the "regulars" in addition to a few new members to complete a seemingly simple task. Suddenly, when plans go wrong and one of their own is maliciously murdered, the Expendables are determined to seek revenge although the odds are not in their favor.

This film portrays the crews' desire for revenge, their actions and the justice they serve against the adversary who savagely killed their brother.
