Oberstar to tour PR downtown revitalization project next week
PARK RAPIDS - Backers of Park Rapids' Downtown Revitalization Project will be looking for some federal help to keep the vision moving forward.
City leaders have invited Rep. James Oberstar (R-MN) to tour the downtown area Aug. 13, where they will present the plan and determine if federal funding might be available to revamp and redesign city streets, build trails and sidewalks and improve lighting and parking.
Oberstar represents Minnesota's 8th Congressional District, which includes Hubbard County. He is considered to be an influential member of the House Transportation Committee.
Since Oberstar is beginning to develop the 2009 Transportation bill, business leaders want to communicate local priorities while he's a captive audience.
A public reception will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. at Moose Creek Village, the area on Main Street between Moose Creek and Main Street Meats.
