Officials search Red River for possible jumper
Emergency crews from both sides of the Red River are searching the water this morning after receiving a report that a person jumped from the deck of the Kennedy Bridge.
About 6:20 a.m., a truck driver saw a person standing at a railing on the north side of the bridge. He drove past the person, and when he looked in his rear-view mirror, the person was gone.
Officials said personal effects were found on the bridge, indicating that the person had jumped.
As many as four boats have been on the water at once, primarily searching the area north of the bridge to River Road and 12th Street Northwest. At least one of the boats has been using sonar.
Grand Forks Fire and Rescue, East Grand Forks Fire Department and emergency teams from Grand Forks and Polk counties are on the scene.
