Ogema man in court for assault
An Ogema man made his first appearance Monday in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of second degree assault-dangerous weapon.
Stanley Goble Jr., 53, of 37661 337th Ave., Ogema, is accused of assaulting a man at another Ogema residence on April 8. According to the criminal complaint, a man and a woman were sitting beside a bonfire at their Ogema residence during the early morning hours of April 8 when a man they didn't know -- Goble -- came up to them and started engaging them in conversation.
Goble informed them that he was a Navy SEAL, and when the man questioned whether he was telling the truth, Goble allegedly became angry and came at him with a long-bladed knife. The woman was then able to sneak up on Goble from behind and get the knife away from him; she threw it into the fire so he couldn't use it against them again.
The couple was subsequently able to subdue Goble and hold him until law enforcement officers arrived to arrest him, the complaint stated.
Goble is currently in custody at the Becker County Jail pending his next court appearance, at an April 30 omnibus hearing. His bail has been set at $15,000 with conditions, or $25,000 without conditions.
