Ogema man in court for assaulting woman twice
An Ogema man made his first appearance Friday in Becker County District Court on two felony counts of domestic assault-inflict harm.
Dennis Frank St. Clair, 47, of 36545 County Highway 34, Ogema, is accused of assaulting a woman at the home they shared in Ogema on two separate occasions between Aug. 21-22.
According to the complaint, St. Clair first got into an argument with the woman during the evening of Aug. 21, and the fight escalated until he allegedly grabbed the woman's arms and threw her down on the bed, trapping her there and not allowing her to escape. While she was being questioned about the incident, the investigating officer noticed bruises on the woman's upper arms.
The following morning, they allegedly got into another argument, during which he threw a wall hanging at the woman and hit her with it, causing a small puncture wound in her chest. She then allegedly called her sister for help, and her sister contacted law enforcement about the incident.
St. Clair has two prior domestic violence-related convictions on his record, from 2005 and 2008. He is currently in custody at the Becker County Jail pending his next court appearance, at a Sept. 4 Rule 8 hearing. His bail was set at $3,000 with conditions, or $10,000 without conditions.
