Ogema woman charged with taking car for ‘joyride’
An Ogema woman was charged Thursday in Becker County District Court with one felony count of receiving stolen property.
According to court records, Bellcourt was found behind the wheel of the missing vehicle when it was stopped at the intersection of county roads 21 and 34 in Becker County at around 1:58 p.m. Wednesday.
She allegedly said she had taken the vehicle for a “joyride,” and protested that it should only be a misdemeanor.
Bellcourt is currently in custody at the Becker County Jail awaiting her next court appearance, at a Feb. 3 Rule 8 hearing.
Her bail was set at $3,000 with conditions, or $10,000 without conditions.
