Oliver R. Donner, 78, of Ogema, died Monday, July 20, 2009 at St. Mary's Innovis Health, Detroit Lakes.
Oliver Roy Donner was born to Charles and Bertha (Bullert) Donner on Aug. 11, 1930 in Spring Creek Township, rural Ogema, where he was raised and educated. Oliver married Emily Krupicka on April 10, 1949 in Ogema. They farmed in Spring Creek Township until moving to Maple Grove Township, rural Ogema, in 1971. In addition to farming, Oliver also worked as a carpenter in the Ogema area.
Oliver served for many years on the Maple Grove Township Board; did surveys for the ASCS Office and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Oliver treasured the time he spent with his family; was an avid fisherman and hunter; and loved to tinker. He was known as a man who could fix anything.
Surviving Oliver are his wife of 60 years, Emily Donner of Ogema; seven children, James (Janet) Donner of Ogema, Ronald Donner of Hawley, Gary Donner of Ogema, Julie (George) Hamer of Brookings, S.D., Bruce Donner of Ogema, Jeff (Joni) Donner of Graham, Wash., and Brian (Shannon) Donner of Ogema; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Oliver in death were his son, Kevin; two grandsons, Scott and Todd; his parents; a brother, Charles; and an infant sister, Louise.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ogema, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. It will continue for one hour prior to Friday's services.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, July 24 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ogema, with the Rev. Del Stohs officiating. Interment will be in the Ogema Cemetery.
