Omaha man sentenced for fleeing police
Lance Gerald Parra, 22, of Omaha, Neb., has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.
According to court records, on June 3 a trooper clocked him driving 70 mph in a 55 mph zone on County Road 29.
The trooper pursued him east on Highway 34 at speeds up to 125 mph. He passed several vehicles in no-passing zones before finally pulling over and apologizing to the trooper for the chase.
He appeared Jan. 12 before District Judge Peter Irvine, who issued a stay of adjudication for four years and placed him on supervised probation. He was ordered to serve 90 days in jail and fined $1,000.
He can do electronic home monitoring at his own expense instead of serving the jail time, and work release for work/school was granted. He can also be released on weekends for duty with the National Guard.
