Park Rapids plans emergency meeting
PARK RAPIDS -- About 24 hours after the Park Rapids Council officially appointed Scott Larson as city administrator, a Hubbard County deputy arrested him for DWI.
The mayor has scheduled an emergency closed session at 10 a.m. Monday at city hall to consider the preliminary charges against Larson.
Larson, 54, was arraigned Thursday on two counts of third degree DWI.
According to the court complaint, at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy was on patrol on Highway 34 traveling east near CSAH 4 and saw a westbound vehicle driving in the eastbound lane. The deputy stopped the vehicle, identified the driver and arrested him for DWI. At the Hubbard County Law Enforcement Center, results of a breath test showed an alcohol concentration of .19 (with .08 being the legal limit).
Larson has a prior DWI in November 2005.
Maximum penalty for each gross misdemeanor is one year in jail and/or a $3,000 fine.
Larson, who is from Cambridge, is scheduled to start as city administrator Feb. 4 at a salary of $70,000 plus benefits.
