Park Rapids will escape blizzard conditions, but not cold

Email

PARK RAPIDS - Park Rapids is in for a bone-chilling week but will escape today's blizzard conditions because of its surrounding forests.

"You'll get around 2 to 2½ inches of snow," predicted National Weather Service meteorologist Geoffrey Grochocinski. "The winds will pick up today bringing in colder air from Canada. You'll see some blowing snow, but not the blizzard conditions we've forecast for the upper Red River Valley. Your tree cover will shelter you."
