Passenger jumps out in car chase leading to arrest of Glyndon man
MOORHEAD – A Glyndon man was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase down a busy highway here Thursday night.
Dana Thomas, 29, faces felony charges that include driving while intoxicated, fleeing, property damage and about a half-dozen other citations, according to a report released by the Moorhead Police Department. Thomas was also wanted on arrest warrants from three other counties.
According to the report:
Police tried to pull Thomas over at 20th Street and Main Avenue for driving recklessly. He was reportedly spinning his tires and passing vehicles in the wrong lane.
Officers say Thomas fled north on Highway 75 at a high rate of speed, sometimes passing vehicles on the shoulder of the road.
Thomas eventually turned off at 70th Avenue North, and as he did so, a juvenile male passenger took the opportunity to jump from the moving car. The boy escaped harm and Thomas continued to drove on 70th Avenue until he drove into a wheat field and then a corn field.
A Clay County deputy located the vehicle's dust trail in the corn field and found the vehicle stopped.
Thomas was then arrested and taken to the Clay County Jail.
