On Dec. 6, a Wadena police officer responded to the Community Behavioral Health Hospital in Wadena on a complaint of an out-of-control male patient, court records said.

When the officer arrived, three staff members were restraining Jamie Michael Schleifer, who was shouting profanities at the time, court records said. Schleifer allegedly threw a chair at another patient and threatened him. The other patient had to "run for his life" and fell while running away, injuring his knee, court records indicated.

Schleifer allegedly said he was going to start "busting out people and busting out chairs" and got into an altercation with staff members, kicking and elbowing them as they tried to restrain him, according to the court complaint. He told them they were "all going to die" and threatened to kill everyone "if I find you on the outside."

The metal chairs, which were strewn about, according to court records, weighed more than 17 pounds each.

He was charged in court Dec. 8. Bond was set at $40,000, or cash bail at $4,000, provided Schleifer meet conditions set by the court.
