Patriot Assistance Dog recognition, celebration
An awards program, recognition ceremony and celebration for the Patriot Assistance Dog (PAD) program in Detroit Lakes will be held this Sunday, Sept. 30 at the Veteran's Memorial Park in downtown Detroit Lakes, from 4 to 6 p.m.
A short program is set to start at 4:15 p.m.
This event will celebrate and recognize four Minnesota Veterans and will celebrate the placement of a
Patriot Assistance Dog into their life as a service dog and companion.
The ceremony will include a proclamation by Mayor Matt Brenk, Tribute to the Veterans by U.S. Congressman Collin Peterson, and presentation of Patriot Assistance Dogs program participation plaques by Linda Wiedewitsch, trainer and founder of this organization.
There will also be patriotic music performed by Clint Felker and food served by the Disabled American Veterans.
There will be a free will offering, with all proceeds directed to the Patriot Assistance Dogs program.
Seating will be limited. Please bring a lawn chair.
