Patsy Cline show in Park Rapids Sunday

Julie Kaiser will reprise her role as Patsy Cline in Long Lake Theater's production of "A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline." The show, which sold out at the Hubbard theater in June, returns for 3 p.m. performances on Aug. 23 and 30 at the Park Rapids High School auditorium. Kids' Day at the museum

The Becker County Museum is hosting a Kids' Day activity from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., centered around the theme "Pioneer Days." Jasper's Theater

Jasper's Theater performs a great family entertainment show filled with music, magic and comedy today at 3 p.m. -- the final Thursday show of the season. Refuge tour

Tamarac Wildlife Refuge offers a Refuge tour from 10 a.m. to noon (every Thursday through August). Join a refuge guide for an informative and fun adventure on the refuge. Search for wildlife and learn about the cultural and natural history of Tamarac.

Wood CD release party

A CD release party for Emma Wood, daughter of Jim and Rhonda Wood, is at 7 p.m. in the Speak Easy. She will perform songs from her CD, and there will be CDs available for sale.

Live at the Lodge

The Lodge on Lake Detroit will host a free "Live at the Lodge" concert every Thursday through Aug. 27. This week's performance features the jazz duo of David Ferreira on piano and vocals with saxophone player Russ Peterson. The concert will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. in the hotel's Fireside Lobby, and is free and open to the public as well as hotel guests. There is no cover charge for the Summer Thursdays series. NYM Puppet Pageant

Large -scale puppets will walk Centennial Drive in New York Mills in the second annual Harvest Puppet Pageant on Friday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m., enacting a drama inspired by the first 10 runes to the Finnish national epic poem, the Kalevala. Come enjoy "Coffee & Conversation" at the Cormorant Township Hall at 9 a.m. Rick Julian, retired manager of the Rydell Wildlife Refuge, will speak about area wildlife.

Star Party on the Prairie

Minnesota State University Moorhead's Regional Science Center hosts a "Star Party on the Prairie" from 9-11 p.m. at the Buffalo River site located 15 miles east of Moorhead, off Highway 10, adjacent to Buffalo River State Park. Participants will learn how to find constellations, and view the Milky Way, nebulae and star clusters through our telescopes. Participants can bring their own binoculars or telescopes if they wish. Garden Quilt Show

The Lake Park Outdoor Quilt Show and Garden Tour is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will go to Families Forever Scholarships. Quilts will be exhibited to be voted on, tea and treats will be served, music will be playing and there are gardens to tour. Lunch will be available for sale. Book signing

Carole Briceno and Tina Jorgensen White will be signing copies of their book "Turtle's Journey" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in The Social Cup, DL. The children's book will also be available for sale that day.

ShelterFest event

Humane Society of the Lakes annual ShelterFest event begins at 5 p.m. at Hotel Shoreham. There will be a silent auction and musical entertainment from Dan Holt. The Harley raffle will take place at 9 p.m.

Johnson performs

Charles Johnson, sponsored by Music Serving the Word Ministries, shares his spiritual music during a concert at 7 p.m. in the Cormorant Community Center. He will perform Broadway show tunes, spiritual and love songs.

Dave & Barb Anderson

Dave and Barb Anderson will perform in concert at 7 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, 1401 Madison Ave, Detroit Lakes. Dave and Barb's music is a blend of contemporary, gospel, and traditional Christian songs... often including children's or Sunday school songs. Back by popular demand, Long Lake Theater's production of "A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline" returns for two performances only, the first taking place at the Park Rapids High School Auditorium. The sold-out show delighted audiences at the Hubbard theater in June, with Julie Kaiser, Solway, playing the role of Patsy Cline and Matthew Goinz, Bemidji, as "Little Big Man." Tuesdays in the Park

The Tuesdays in the Park summer concert series comes to an end with a live performance by the Lakes Area Community Concert Band at 7 p.m. in the DL City Park Bandshell. It is a free show, and open to the public. Before the concert, Thrivent Builds for Habitat will also have a picnic fund-raiser, grilling up fresh burgers and brats for sale at the shelter near the bandshell from 6 to 7 p.m. Call 218-844-SHOW (7469) for more information.

'Mystification'

The Detroit Lakes Shrine Club Color Guard is hosting a performance of "Mystification" at the Historic Holmes Theatre on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. This "celebration of classic magic and timeless variety" features performers Timothy and Barbara Tegge.
