Paul J. Olson, 87, of Lake Park, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Paul Jerome was born to John and Emma (Lindstrom) Olson on April 29, 1923 in Lake Park. He grew-up in Lake Park and graduated from Lake Park High School. After graduation, Paul served in the Army 78th Signal Corps Infantry in Europe. He returned to Lake Park, where he farmed.
Paul married Lyla Seydel on June 30, 1951 in Eksjo Lutheran Church, Lake Park. Together they had four children. Paul continued to farm while working at the sugar beet plant and drilling wells. He owned and operated Olson Well Drilling from 1959 to 2009.
Paul was an overall handyman who loved tinkering, traveling and fishing. Most of all, he was devoted to his family.
Surviving Paul are his wife, Lyla; one son, Terry (Vicki) Olson of Mandan, N.D.; three daughters Jean Olson of Lake Park, Joan Scardino of Pittsford, N.Y., and LaDon (Curtis) Haugen of Audubon; grandchildren, Curtis Jr. (Alyssa) Haugen, Lance (Kelly) Haugen, Nicholas and Michael Olson; step-grandchildren, Cole, Rory and Chloe Benz; and three great grandchildren, Callan, Aivyn and MaKenna.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother John, "Buddy"; sister, Agnes, "Tootsie"; and baby brother, Vernon.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 6, with a 4 p.m. prayer service, at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Monday, March 7 at Eksjo Lutheran Church in Lake Park.
