Pearl J. Gunderson, 86, of Detroit Lakes, died peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Pearl was born to Alma (Cederberg) and John Norman on April 25, 1924 in rural Hawley. Pearl married Clifford Gunderson in Hawley on April 22, 1942. Together they had nine children.
Pearl and Clifford farmed near Rollag until 1965, when they moved to Lake Park. In 1971 they moved to Hawley. Pearl was employed as caregiver during her younger years. She later moved to Detroit Lakes and was a resident of Emmanuel for the past several years.
Surviving Pearl are five sons, Keith (Annie) of Forman, N.D., Lavern (Becky) of Glyndon, Gary (Gloria) of Hawley, Terry (June) of Lehigh, Iowa and Jerry (Deb) of Audubon; three daughters, Linda Lewis of Dilworth, Glenda (Frank) Supper of Clarissa, Minn., and Lucinda Gunderson of Frazee; two sisters, Mae Gunderson of Hawley and Fern Krogen of Detroit Lakes; 23 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Brenda; one grandson, Brady; three brothers; and three sisters.
A private family service will be held in the spring at Grong Lutheran Cemetery, Rollag.
