Pelican Rapids to host Oktoberfest
Pelican Rapids will host its 113th annual Oktoberfest celebration on Oct. 7-10.
There will be a variety of options for food, fun and entertainment at the celebration, which is held to welcome fall and the beauty Northern Minnesota has to offer during these months.
The festival will kick off with a Wine and Beer tasting on the 7th from 5 to 8 p.m., which will feature a hand-picked selection of wine, beers and appetizers, as well as a soulful ambience courtesy of Gordon Court, who will be performing.
The tasting will be located at the Pelican.
On Friday, there will be a Pelican Rapids Jingle Karaoke Contest, which will have a theme of "Pelican Rapids Sure Can Make You Feel at Home." This event will be at the VFW at 7 p.m.
Saturday will see Bingo, at the VFW, and the Oktoberfest Live Auction, boasting hundreds of items to be sold off. Auctioneers for this event -- which begins at 6 -- will be provided by Loren Seifert, of Seifert Realty & Auction Co.
Oktoberfest will conclude on Sunday with an Old-Fashioned Sunday Afternoon Polka Party. Here, for a $2 cover charge (or '10 Oktoberfest Button), you can dance to "Odell Braten" and other polka favorites.
Throughout Oktoberfest, there will be a Can Drive for the Otter Tail County Humane Society. Bring your used cans to the Maplewood.
