Pelican Rapids voters defeat referendum for school upgrades

PELICAN RAPIDS, Minn. – Voters here defeated a referendum Tuesday night that would have allowed the school district to use $18.5 million in bonds to upgrade the high school and other buildings.

Superintendent Deborah Wanek said by 9:30 p.m., the majority of precincts showed a clear defeat of the proposition with 1,262, or 59 percent, voting “no” and only 845, or 40 percent, voting for the bond.
