The Food For Thought Backpack Program is a partnership between the United Way of Becker County, North Country Food Bank and the Lake Park-Audubon School District.

Members of P.E.O. Chapter FG, Detroit Lakes, delivered a bag of non-perishable food to elementary students from eligible households each week. The food is discreetly distributed and is meant to be eaten at home over the weekend.

This program was first implemented at LPA in January of 2010. During the 2012-13 school year, there were 35-40 participants.
