The annual winter community musical, under the direction of Kevin Kosiak, will be performed Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Perham High School Auditorium.

The final musical by dynamic duo of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein III tells the story of Maria, a nun who leaves her abbey to become a governess for the seven children of a navy captain.

She earns the love of all of the von Trapps, but it isn't all fun and games after the Nazi regime takes control of Austria.

It is based on Maria von Trapp's memoir "The Story of the Trapp Family Singers." The musical opened on Broadway in 1959 and was adapted into an Academy Award-winning musical starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer in 1965.

It includes well-known songs such as "My Favorite Things," "The Sound of Music," and "Edelweiss."

Community members of all ages will come together to perform the musical.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. They can be purchased at the Area Learning Center building from 1-4 p.m. It is located at 520 1st Ave. S. in Perham.
