In Perham, slow and steady always wins the race, no matter how loud the turtle trainers yell.

This week, the small Minnesota town invites everyone to Turtle Fest, a celebration that gets its name from Perham's 30-year turtle racing tradition.

"It just works out great," turtle race announcer Tim Meehl said. "We try to make it fun for them."

Turtle Fest starts Wednesday and runs through Sunday.

Visitors can enjoy helicopter rides, craft and food vendors, a parade, a demolition derby and a fireworks display.
