The Yellow Jackets (18-5 overall, 14-3 HOL) raced out of the gates with a quick 9-0 run to take control early.

From there, Perham maintained a comfortable margin all night as Frazee (6-18 overall, 4-13 HOL) was never able to make a sustained run.

"Perham is just one of those teams that we don't match up with very well," head coach Dave Conzemius said. "Our kids played hard and did some nice things at times, but we weren't able maintain any consistency because of Perham's defense."

Freshmen Alexis Tappe led the Lady Hornets with 11 points and five rebounds.

Juniors Sadie Stender and Chloe Streeper had a nice effort off of the bench for Frazee combining for 12 points and nine rebounds.

"Sadie and Chloe gave us some nice minutes off of the bench which is something we will need as we head for the post season," Conzemius added.

Perham was led by senior Elisa Moenkedick with 13 points.

The Yellow Jackets shot the ball very well at 51.9 percent, (28-for-54) while the Lady Hornets struggled at 27.9 percent (11-for-43).

Perham outrebounded Frazee 28-24.

Cold night for Frazee

The Frazee Lady Hornets went ice cold from the field Thursday night leading to a 46-33 loss at Park Rapids.

"It was just one of those nights where we couldn't buy a basket," head coach Dave Conzemius said. "We didn't help ourselves any with our shot selection tonight either."

Frazee took excellent care of the basketball in the first half committing only three turnovers. But the Lady Hornets shot 19.2 percent (5-for-26) from the floor which resulted in a 27-12 halftime deficit.

The second half saw a better defensive effort from Frazee but they were unable to cut into the deficit as the Lady Hornets shooting woes continued. Frazee finished the game shooting 26.5 percent (13-for-49).

Freshmen Ashley Bachmann led in scoring with nine points. Sophomore McKinzie Tangen added eight points and four steals while freshmen Alexis Tappe added seven points and seven rebounds.

Frazee and Park Rapids are scheduled to meet again in the Section 8-2A play-in game in Frazee on March 1st at 7 p.m.

"We are very much looking forward at another shot at the Panthers," Conzemius added. "We didn't play our best tonight and I think we will play much better the next time we see them."
