Perham's Turtle Fest: Turtle races, parade, derby, triathlon and more during summer celebration
Saturday, June 16, starts with a softball tournament at 9 a.m. and soapbox derby races at 11 a.m. Sunday features a disc golf tournament at 2 p.m.
A medallion hunt sponsored by Lakes Radio runs from Monday through Friday.
Wednesday, June 20, marks the start of Perham's international turtle races, which are every Wednesday, June through August, with registration at 10 a.m. and races starting at 10:30 a.m.
On Thursday, Arvig Communication Systems hosts a celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with free food and inflatable games for children.
Thursday is also the Nutra Source 3rd Annual Dog Expo at the East Ottertail County fairgrounds, and the Miss Turtle Tootsie beauty contest at Perham High School.
More turtle races are scheduled for Friday, along with a teddy bear parade, promenade ballroom demonstration, skateboard competition and the grand parade with over 100 floats and several bands.
Friday night is the free street dance with live music by rock band Power Play.
Saturday is the city-wide garage sale, as well as the 17th annual Turtle Fest 5K and 10K and another street dance, and Sunday closes the festival with the Perham Rotary breakfast, a bike race and Heavenly Hackers golf tournament.
