Philharmonic returns to Waubun
Like cicadas in August, musicians will once again be all abuzz at the Hoot Owl Resort in Waubun as The Borderline Philharmonic prepares its annual concert.
For several years before finding the Hoot Owl Resort, the group met and rehearsed at a lodge on the Canadian border, and the name "borderline" stuck.
This year Cary John Franklin returns as music director to lead the musicians in a free concert of classical orchestra works and chamber music on Friday, Aug. 7, at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the upstairs Concert Loft is frequently filled by 7:30 p.m.
In addition to the music, pre-concert picnicking is a perennial favorite with concertgoers bringing their own chairs and ground-cloths. Refreshments will be available during intermission at the Hoot Owl Lodge.
