Piano sisters headed for state competition

DETROIT LAKES -- The annual Preliminary Piano Contest of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association was held on Jan. 26 in the First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes.

The following students of Audrey Savig, Audubon, participated in the contest.

Performing "Minuet in C" by Leopard Mozart in the Primary Division was Madelynn Thompson. Performing "Osaka Castle Garden" by Dennis Alexander in the Junior A Division was Maren Thompson. Both are daughters of Jenna and David Thompson of Audubon.

Senior A Division student registered, but not performing because of another contest held on the same day, was Toni Tollefson, daughter of Judy and Robin Tollefson of Lake Park. Toni's selection was "Rhapsody in G Minor, Opus 79, Number 2" by Johann Brahms.

Students going on to state competition on March 15 in the Ferguson Hall on the University of Minnesota Campus in Minneapolis are Madelynn Thompson and Maren Thompson.
