Pickup sideswiped by combine near Climax
CLIMAX, Minn. - The driver of a pickup truck was able to escape serious injury by moving quickly as a combine sideswiped his vehicle near here Wednesday night.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol:
The accident occurred just before 6 p.m. when 56-year-old Brian Evenson of Climax failed to yield his Case combine at an intersection. Evenson was eastbound on 360th Street when he tried to cross the highway in front of the pickup heading north on Highway 220.
The driver of the pickup - Cecil Malme, 76, of Nielsville - tried to swerve away from the collision. The bottom of the combine header hit the pickup's roof and hood.
Malme leaned over to avoid more severe injury, a release by the state patrol said. Malme was taken to Riverview Hospital in Crookston, where he was treated for his injuries and released.
Evenson was not injured in the accident.
