Food, music, dancers and a 5K run are just a few parts to the celebration of the Pine Point Powwow, from Aug. 11 to 12 in Ponsford.

The powwow, which has been going on for over 30 years and has attracted around 800 attendants in the past, is a celebration of fellowship and history of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe in the Pine Point area.

Pine Point Powwow is open and free to the public. There will be Native American dancing and singing all weekend. Camping with showers is available at the site, and security is provided.

One of the showcase events is the Princess and Brave contest, where one girl and one boy are chosen as Princess and Brave of the powwow for being a good role model. The Princess and Brave chosen at this powwow will represent Pine Point throughout the following year at various events including other powwows.

Another favorite event of the powwow is the feast, which will be at 5:30 p.m., Sunday.

No alcohol, drugs or colors are allowed at the powwow.
