Pipeline worker charged with second degree murder; victim's name released
PARK RAPIDS - Richard Derek Wright, 40, of Belleville, MI was arraigned Thursday on a charge of second degree murder in the death of a Park Rapids woman early Tuesday morning.
Thursday the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office also released the name of the 40-year-old homicide victim as Sonya Marie Hennagir.
According to Sheriff Gary Mills, preliminary autopsy results report the cause of her death as "asphyxia by strangulation."
In addition to second degree murder, Hubbard Count Attorney Don Dearstyne filed four other charges against Wright as a result of the homicide investigation.
Wright also is charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct, first degree attempted murder, third degree assault and interfering with a 911 call.
Judge Robert Tiffany set unconditional bail at $1.2 million or conditional bail at $750,000.
