Polar Fest's final weekend in Detroit Lakes a whirlwind of activity
Polar Fest swings into high gear this weekend, with several events the family can enjoy.
On Thursday, Feb. 11, the Historic Holmes Theatre will host a special performance by comedian C. Wylli Miles at 7:30 p.m.; tickets are available on-line at www.dlccc.org, by phone at 218-844-SHOW (7469), or at the Holmes Theatre Box Office.
Golf fans have a chance to hit the links Friday, Feb. 12, albeit on the Little Detroit Lake course open just that day only. The Ice Tee event starts at 1 p.m. at Zorbaz.
Lunch will be served at noon in Zorbaz, with the meal free with team registration. The cost for a team is $100.
Nine holes of golf will be offered and friendly competition is encouraged.
Golf clubs and ball will be provided.
The Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center is sponsoring the Freeze Your Buns 5K run Saturday, Feb. 13, as part of Polar Fest.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the race starting at 9 a.m.
The first 100 participants to register get a "Freeze Your Buns" winter gear item.
Pre-registration goes until Feb. 10, with the cost at $15. Late registration goes from Feb. 11-13, with the cost at $18.

The fabled Polar Plunge, Freeze Your Buns Run, "Welcome to Polaritaville" Dance and Winter Fireworks Display all take place on Saturday, Feb. 13, and the festival draws to a close on Sunday, Feb. 14, with an open house at the Becker County Museum; a "Valentine's Day Bubbles Event" and Live at the Lodge jazz concert at the Lodge on Lake Detroit; and a "Cross Country By Candlelight" skiing event at Dunton Locks County Park.
