Police ID East Grand Forks woman in fatal rollover near Devils Lake
GRAND FORKS -- The East Grand Forks woman killed Saturday in a car rollover near Devils Lake was identified Sunday as Gabrielle Puente, 18.
The driver will be charged, said Sgt. Dan Haugen of the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Haugen said Puente was a passenger in an eastbound 1996 Buick that left U.S. Highway 2 about four miles west of Devils Lake at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, rolling over back up on its wheels in the median.
Puente and the other passenger, Ashley Sass, 17, Crookston, were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from the car.
Puente was found dead at the scene; Sass was taken to Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake. A nursing supervisor would not give any information about her condition.
The driver, Dustin Seidler, 26, Bismarck, was wearing a seat belt and also was injured and taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment and released Saturday.
It was raining and the roadway was wet at the time of the accident, and it appears fatigue was a factor in accident, said Sgt. Dan Haugen of the Patrol.
The three were traveling from Bismarck toward Grand Forks, Haugen said. Alcohol was not a factor, he said.
Charges against Seidler are pending discussions with the Ramsey County state's attorney, Haugen said.
