Police identify Fargo man who fatally shot himself while walking along busy street
FARGO - Police released the name of a Fargo man who killed himself Saturday after approaching an officer while carrying a gun.
Barclay Thomas Lesher, 53, shot himself shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday while in the 100 block of 25th Street South.
Lesher approached a policeman who had made a routine stop on Main Avenue, about a block east of 25th Street. Police said Lesher, who had a handgun, told the officer that he planned to hurt himself.
Police said the officer attempted to convince Lesher to surrender the gun, but Lesher put the firearm to his head and threatened his own life. Lesher began walking away and later shot himself
