Ponsford man charged with domestic assault
David Wayne Hanks, 21, of Box 85, Ponsford has been charged in Becker County District Court with two felony counts of domestic assault.
According to court records, at 10 p.m. on April 4 two tribal police officers were called to the scene of a domestic dispute in Ponsford. Hanks had allegedly been drinking as he drove back from Park Rapids with his girlfriend, who is pregnant with his child. He allegedly slapped her when they got back to Ponsford, took her car keys away when she tried to leave, and broke off a rearview mirror.
He was previously convicted of third-degree assault in 2006 and fifth-degree assault in January.
He appeared Monday before District Judge Joe Evans, who set bail or bond at $20,000 without conditions or $10,000 bond or $2,500 cash bail with standard conditions of release.
His next court appearance is May 3.
