Beaux Michael Duvall, 23, of 26100 Waboose Rd., Ponsford, has been charged in connection with a Sept. 5 incident in Becker County.

According to court records, a law enforcement officer observed a vehicle passing by him and turning south, then making an abrupt u-turn without signaling. There was no rear license plate on the vehicle. When the officer initiated a traffic stop, the driver appeared to be making "furtive" movements, reaching toward the vehicle's floor boards.

Upon being asked to exit the vehicle, the driver allegedly turned and looked at the officer, then hit the vehicle's accelerator and took off at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was then observed pulling into the driveway of a residence on Waboose Drive, at which point it came to a stop.

When the officer approached Duvall and asked why he had driven away, the defendant allegedly responded, "because I've got a gun on me." The officer then observed a silver shotgun in plain view on the floor in the back of the vehicle. The firearm appeared to have a sawed off stock and 16-inch barrel. A white pill was also found in Duvall's possession that was discovered to contain the drug oxycodone.

Duvall has been released on a $20,000 bond pending his next court appearance, at an Oct. 29 omnibus hearing.
