Ponsford woman in court for alleged check forgery
A Ponsford woman charged with felony check forgery made her first court appearance.
Lee Ann Jones, 27, is accused of attempting to cash a stolen paycheck of $450.
According to the complaint, Jones showed the employee at the Osage Country Store — where she was trying to cash it — an ID that matched the named on the check.
When the employee called the company that issued it, they were notified that the check had been stolen in a burglary.
When the employee told Jones she couldn’t cash the check because it had been stolen, she left.
When police arrested her, she admitted to trying to cash the check that was her cousin’s and said a male individual had asked her to help him cash it.
