In the world of "what's in" and "what's out," vampires in literature are "in!" According to Scott Laming, (Abebooks.com) vampire tales have been around since the 18th century. He states that the poem "The Vampire" (1748) by Heinrich August Ossenfelde is thought to be the first major work to mention vampires, and it certainly wasn't the last. The Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer, and the subsequent movies have taken pop culture by storm causing a vampire frenzy.
