Quilts needed for display at Garden Quilt Show and Tea Aug. 23
Organizers are looking for quilts to display at an outdoor quilt show and tea to benefit the Families Forever Scholarship in memory of Mary Disse Ballard.
One scholarship is awarded to a Miss Northwest candidate and to a Lake Park senior girl. For each, the female must best explain in an essay what her family, community, church, etc. have meant to her in her growth and development and how that will sustain her in the coming years. Each scholarship is for $500.
This year's Lake Park/Audubon graduating senior winner was Dixie Binde. Breanna Sinner was the winner in the Miss Northwest division.
Old or new quilts are welcome for the display at the Benefit Garden Quilt Show and Tea, 4020 4th St., Lake Park, on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be five people's choice prizes given including a pull bag for your sewing machine and a gift certificate to Mill End Fabrics in Fargo. Besides new quilts, organizers are looking for antique or family quilts to be displayed with their stories.
The public is invited to come and vote for their favorites. There will be door prizes and items to purchase. Tea and treats will be served. A $5 donation is suggested to attend.
