Raider volleyball falters with unforced errors once again
The unforced error reared its ugly head once again for the Lake Park-Audubon volleyball team, as they were swept by visiting Ada-Borup 3-0 Tuesday.
After going 2-1 in the Pelican Rapids tournament Saturday, the Raiders couldn't follow up that solid showing against the Cougars (5-3), due to committing too many unforced errors.
"It's the story of the season, thus far," said LP-A head coach Mike Summers.
"There was still some glimmer of good which came out of the game, but we just need to get over that hump."
The Raiders (3-4) lost 25-13, 25-22 and 25-11.
"We just need to be a bit more aggressive with our serving, since we didn't have many aces," Summers said.
"It's a weird scenario for us, tough. In practice, the girls do well with very few errors, they are just not translating that into games, so far."
Senior middle hitter Carissa Raaen and junior outside hitter Bailee Bartunek each had five kills, while the Raiders' blocking was good, as junior Becca Schermer had four solos and two assisted blocks to lead the team.
The Raiders will travel to Fertile-Beltrami (2-2) Thursday and hope to kickstart their season.
"It's still early in the season, so the team has to have a commitment to itself and not worry about the other team," Summers added.
"We need to control our 900-square feet and play our game."
