Ralph K. Beske, 78, of Moorhead, passed away on Wednesday, October 08, 2008, in MeritCare Hospital's Palliative Care Unit, Fargo.
Ralph was born to Adolph and Augusta (Schoen) Beske on March 26, 1930, in Oriska, N.D. He grew up on a farm near Hitterdal, Minn., and attended rural country school. In 1946, Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Army. He finished his basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., before serving with occupation troops in Japan. In 1948, he returned to Hitterdal and worked on the farm.
Ralph married Lois King on Sept. 12, 1952, in Ulen. Together they started a family and resided in Lake Park, until moving to Moorhead in 1980. Ralph enjoyed driving truck for a living and was able to see much of the country. Over the years he drove for Kenosha Auto Transport out of Kenosha, Wis., as well as Dan Dugan Transport in Moorhead.
Ralph was a member of the American Legion and the VFW of Moorhead as well as a member of Lake Park Lutheran Church.
Surviving Ralph are his wife, Lois; children, Wendell (Patricia) Beske of Perham, Kathleen (Roger) Cramer of Dayton, Ohio, Laurel (Neil) Zachariason of Lake Park, Coral (Gerald) Lunde of Audubon and Joyce (Dennis) Fjeld of Moorhead; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding Ralph in death were his parents; brothers, Rolland and Gordon; and sister, Ethel Melbye.
Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Lake Park Lutheran Church, Lake Park.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Lake Park Lutheran Church, Lake Park, with interment following at Lake Park Lutheran Church Cemetery.
