Former Detroit Lakes resident Randall (Randy) J. Swenson, 66, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 7, 2013 in Kiowa, Colo.
A private viewing for the immediate family was held on Nov. 10, after which he was cremated, and a memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the Epiphany Lutheran Church in Castle Rock, Colo., which was attended by family and friends.
Randy will be greatly missed by many, many people. He was born to Robert and Evelyn (Snook) Swenson on April 13, 1947 in Minneapolis, and grew up and attended school in Clarissa, Minn. He served in the army from 1966 until 1969, and he was a disabled veteran.
On April 16, 1966 he married Kay Greggersen at the First Luthern Church in Detroit Lakes.
Randy loved to fish, hunt and go camping, he also liked spending lots of time playing with his grandchildren and sitting outdoors watching the birds and wildlife.
Surviving Randy are his wife Kay of Kiowa, Colo.; sons Randy (Susan) of Castle Rock, Colo., and Keith of Strassberg, Colo.; five grandchildren, Dakota, Jeremy, Mason, Kaleigh and Kylan; mother, Evelyn Swenson of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers Kevin, Brian, Lynn and Larry; sister Julie Nodsle; several nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law Alan (Paula) Greggersen and family of Detroit Lakes.
Preceding him in death were his granddaughter, Emma Jayne Swenson and his father, Robert Swenson.
