July 9, 1953-Aug. 14, 2014
Randy Hintzen, 61, of Fargo, died Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Herman "Randy" Hintzen was born to Walter and Lucille (Neurhing) Hintzen on July 9, 1953 in Mason City, Iowa. When Randy was quite young, the family moved to Perham and bought Big Pine Resort.
Randy graduated from Perham High School and went on to attend the technical college at Detroit Lakes for two years in the auto technician program. In 1973 he was married to Linda Hendrickson and they had 3 children together. They were divorced in 2002.
Randy worked for 10 years for Tomlinson Lumber in Callaway, and was also a proud volunteer firefighter for the Callaway Fire Department. Randy then became self-employed in the trucking business, owning Hintzen Trucking from 1986 to 1994. He then went on to work for Foltz Trucking and Midnite Express until 2000, when his health began failing greatly.
Randy enjoyed many hobbies including model cars, drawing, playing whist, classic cars, deer hunting, and especially woodworking. Randy was a huge Vikings fan and his biggest wish in life was to live by the lake. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving Randy are his 3 children, Barbara Hintzen, Fargo, Bruce (Shera) Hintzen, Rapid City, S.D., and Brandon Hintzen, Moorhead; brother Gilbert Hintzen, Dilworth; stepbrother Larry Olthoff, Mason City; stepsister Beverly Olthoff, Garner, Iowa; grandchildren Cory, Dylan, Kaylie and Skylar Hintzen; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents and his brother, Leigh Hintzen, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 19 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Moorhead.
