Ranger defense stifles Detroit Lakes girls' basketball
A stingy Crosby-Ironton girls' basketball team put the clamps down on the visiting Detroit Lakes squad Tuesday, handing the Lakers a 48-29 loss.
The young Laker squad was without their leading scorer, Kayli Muckenhirn, who is out with a broken nose, as junior forward Jenny Matter tried to pick up the slack with 13 points.
But the Rangers used the three-pointer as their choice of weapon, sinking seven of them, which keyed a 28-point second half.
"C-I played a very disciplined game that took its effect in the second half," said DL head coach Mike Hoganson. "We are still making young mistakes, which are killing us. Playing without Kayli took some of our scoring out of the lineup, as well."
The Lakers (0-4) will host section opponent Fergus Falls Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Detroit Lakes at Crosby-Ironton, Tuesday, Dec. 8.
