Rebecca "Becky" Husby, 62, died peacefully at her home in Bloomington, Minn., on Saturday, January 28, 2012, after a year of battling colon cancer.
Becky, the oldest child of Rolf and Betty Husby, was born on March 22, 1949 in Detroit Lakes. In 1967, she graduated from Detroit Lakes High School, where she was active as an excellent extemporaneous speaker and a member of the debate team.
Becky continued those interests at Hamline University in St. Paul, where she graduated in 1971. She managed the Criterion Restaurant and held several other positions in the food service industry.
Later, she began work as a real estate appraiser with Kendall & Associates, where she was known for being able to gather and make clear sense of information from many different sources.
Throughout her life, Becky loved ideas, and her curiosity showed in an eagerness to learn and teach. She had a love of history and current affairs, and enjoyed reading and spending time with her cats.
Surviving Becky are her mother, Betty Husby; sisters Rev. Karen Husby and Barbara (Wayne) Quehl; brothers Dan (Verna) and Paul Husby; three nieces; three nephews; and a great niece and great nephew.
Her father Rolf preceded her in death.
