Rebecca Kolls, former Chief Meteorologist at WCCO, to speak at 'Women's Night Out' Oct. 11 in Wadena
Tri-County Health Care's annual "Women's Night Out" program will be held on Monday, October 11, at the Wadena Memorial Auditorium. Parking and admission is free.
"Women's Night Out" is a free educational event on health, for women ages 18 and older. Master Gardener, Rebecca Kolls, former chief meteorologist at WCCO and host of "Rebecca's Garden" will be this year's keynote speaker. Kolls' presentation, "Digging for Dollars" will show us that there is gold in our backyards, we just have to dig in. Kolls will share tips on saving big bucks through frugal gardening; growing bigger flower gardens for free, increasing your harvest, making the most with your space and concocting kitchen cupboard remedies. Don't worry about bringing your notebook, we will provide a notepad and pen for you.
Health screenings will be offered from 5-7 p.m. Tri-County Health Care (TCHC) staff will provide free screenings for glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, pulmonary function and body-fat analysis. Informational booths will be available on a variety of health topics pertinent to women's health. A complimentary soup and sandwich buffet will be available at the same time, and from 6-7 p.m. Kolls will be available to sign autographs.
The evening program will kick off at 7 p.m. with a presentation on women's health from Wadena Medical Center (WMC) physician, Dr. Shaneen Schmidt. Dr. Schmidt has been with WMC since 1999 and specializes in family medicine. Dr. Schmidt will speak on women's health and "The Family Concept - from Cradle to Grave" the continuum of care model at Tri-County Health Care.
